Health Talk: The 90 Degrees Fahrenheit Rule
90 Degrees Fahrenheit or less It's our
number one law while drying and grinding barley grass. It's a very important
rule to preserve the living nutrients in our barley grass and alfalfa. It is
proven that exceeding 110 degrees Fahrenheit will kill all the enzymes or living
nutrients in the food. We chose 90 degrees to be on the safe side, to save
the precious nutrients that our bodies really need! All of our hard work to
produce highest quality barley grass will go to waste if we overheat! Imagine
that...

We used the VitaMix blender to grind our barley grass in our first few years before using a bigger grinder you see below. It was a time-consuming task to grind one handful of barley grass at a time in the blender.
The woodstove is a vital tool to dry the barley grass effectively as the heat from a woodstove dries the air much better than an electric or gas heater can. We keep a woodpile nearby to keep the heat up near 90 degrees as the large fan circulates the air around the large room. We have improved the insulation in the drying room to preserve the taste and smell of dried barley grass.
This advanced electric powered grinder we use today is effective and meets our expectations to preserve the living nutrients of our barley grass. We weren’t satisfied with many electric powered grinders because their high velocity blades cause friction heat, exceeding 90 degrees Fahrenheit which kills the living nutrients in our barley grass.
See how Ron puts a handful of dried barley grass, one handful at a time, to keep the blades cool. Remember, even friction heat can kill the nutrients inside our barley grass!
In conclusion, the "90 degrees Fahrenheit or less" rule is one of our cornerstones to achieve preserving high quality barley grass powder for your health!
