Health Talk: Strawberries!
I wanted to write this special and personal letter to all of our customers because of one reason. This reason is STRAWBERRIES. Yes, that tangy, juicy and red fruit the size of ping pong balls, give or take. We already received outstandingly positive feedback from our close relatives and friends about the incredible taste of our strawberries! One may ask...why sell strawberries now, not before?
Let's go back to the beginning...when I first started farming back in 1979, my wife and I wanted to grow and sell strawberries. We didn't succeed because the soil wasn't good at that time and my confidence and knowledge of growing strawberries wasn't advanced enough. Our strawberries in the early 1980s measured low in nutrient content and the taste wasn't that great, all because of the soil's poor health. We decided to move on other vegetables to sell but continued to grow strawberries for our family.
Today, I have almost 30 years of chemical-free farming with high quality soil from years of nurturing. My experience, knowledge and confidence are much higher than ever and we decided to add our "original" plant, strawberries, to Living Food Farm's product list! The taste is off the charts! I'm not the only person saying this...but also others who tasted our strawberries!
The plan is to make strawberry leathery (like fruit roll-ups) but 10 times better! We pick them, blend them into thick juice, and dry them on thin trays with dehydrator machines. The temperature will not exceed more than 90 degrees to preserve the fragile nutrients. The strawberry leathery slices are packaged into air-vacuumed plastic bags to preserve taste and freshness (see picture above) and the shelf life will be almost forever! Our nutrient-rich strawberries contain very high levels of Vitamins C, fiber, folate, potassium and antioxidants and can reduce common colds, heart disease, strokes, and cancer. It also enhances memory and wards off the cognitive decline of aging.
