Living Food Farm's turkeys

Holidays are surely a wonderful time to get together with family and friends and foods are always good. But we often feel lousy and gained some pounds after the holidays; therefore we encourage you to try some different and healthy recipes or to keep your food intake to the limit. Raw Vegetables Powder (RVP) can also help you feeling better after eating heavy meals. RVP is excellent for breaking down the foods with its enzymes so if you are not on the waiting list, send an email to shanada@livingfoodfarm.com as soon as possible! The prices and sizes can be found in previous Health Talk on October 15th at this link: http://www.livingfoodfarm.com/blog/index.shtml

Some things to share...

1. Our cabbages are finally harvested and are now fermenting so for those who already contacted us for the waiting list, we will send you an email shortly within the next few weeks.
2. RVP is excellent for your children because they are often tempted with some unhealthy foods at school from their peers, so our RVP could help them have a balanced diet with our high quality vegetables inside each bag. RVP is good for anyone as early as 6 months old babies. Mix it with puree vegetables and fruits for better health!
3. We have removed the barley grass powder products from our website because we NO longer sell them. Raw Vegetables Powder is the newest product for everyone. RVP has BARLEY GRASS POWDER in it so you will have benefits from both barley grass and fermented raw vegetables in one bag of RAW VEGETABLES POWDER! It is like two products in ONE bag! It is really cheap if you are comparing our RVP to bottles in health stores. If we sell our RVP in a bottle, it would be around $5.00 a bottle!
4. Buying Raw Vegetables Powder on website is NOT ready until customers on the waiting list are served.
5. For those who are still not sure about the benefits of RVP, visit this link for more information.
http://www.livingfoodfarm.com/info/rawvegetablespowder.shtml

If you don't want to do more reading, here is the summary of what RVP can do for you!

Fermented vegetables help with digestion of food, breaking down waste products, cleaning waste material from the intestinal wall, and creating important vitamins that the body needs. Enzyme rich foods such as RVP also allow the body to absorb vitamins (in particular C, and B12), minerals, nutritional value and omega 3s more effectively.

Barley grass powder is included in RVP for more energy, burn fat quicker, healthier blood cells, improved blood circulation, healthier organs, faster healing process, removal of chemical/heavy metals, healthier skin, faster growing hair and nails, less cold/flu, improved high/low cholesterol and blood pressure and many more!

Happy Thanksgiving!
The weather up north is particularly challenging but we are able to manage it so far. Our small patch of strawberry plants are full of flowers and will be ready to pick in few weeks! We are excited about our crops this year and we really wish we could share our vegetables and fruits with everyone but it is not possible except for strawberry leathers and raw vegetables powder which will be ready this fall.

However; this summer is a good time for you to visit your local farmers' market for fresh vegetables and fruits. Grab this opportunity to improve your health by eating as much local vegetables and fruits before winter comes. Most grocery stores averagely carried foods that are imported 1,500 miles away and they got bruised, chemically treated, or unripe before they got to the stores. To find closest farmers' market, visit this link:
http://www.localharvest.org/organic-farms/

You can also check on the internet or with your health food store where to pick blueberries, strawberries, and raspberries near your home. Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is also wonderful way to support your local farmers. To learn more about it, visit this link: http://www.localharvest.org/csa.jsp

With those vegetables and fruits from your local farmers, you can find some new and healthy recipes from raw food books. Here are some of our favorites...

"The Complete Book of Raw Food" by Baird Rodwell
"Living Cuisine" by Renee Loux Underkoffle

Remember to take our Barley Grass Powder because they still do contain excellent and high levels in nutrient content on brix chart. To learn more on what nutrient content is all about, visit this link: http://www.livingfoodfarm.com/tour/sugarcontent/index.shtml

There are not many vegetables or fruits from local or organic farmers that has average or higher nutrient content levels but they are still better for your body. Obviously, way better than candies, chips, cookies, fried foods and processed foods that were standing on the shelves for weeks or months in any grocery store. Taking our barley grass powder daily is your "natural medicine" to maintain good health!

Eating healthy is not part of your life, it is your LIFE!

Ron has been busy at the farm getting ready to plant seeds as soon as the weather gets warm enough. There are thousands of seeds that need to be sowed in our nutrient-rich soil such as cabbages, beets, carrots, strawberries and barley grass. We are looking forward to harvest those crops to help all of our health!

We are also excited about fermenting our vegetables for better health this summer. Fermented vegetables are enzyme-rich foods that will help our stomach with breaking down the foods, having easier bowel movement, and fighting the bacteria in digestive tract. There are many benefits of fermented foods that have been used by other countries for centuries. America didn't practice this but we are now encouraging customers to eat fermented foods such as our Raw Vegetables Powder which will be ready this fall.

We would like to emphasis how important RVP is for your health along with barley grass powder. Both raw cultured vegetables work together very excellent for ANY of your health problems! We need both active enzymes from barley grass powder and friendly bacteria from raw vegetables powder for our daily well-being.

Thirty years ago, we were not able to decompose wood, old plants, and weeds back into soil but today, if we put them back into our soil, they will decay in several weeks! Why is that??

Our soil has LIVING bacteria which means it has the minerals and microbes to break down dead plants or animals efficiently and quickly in the soil.

This idea is the same as in the digestive system of a human body. Raw Vegetables Powder has the friendly bacteria in order to digest food and eliminate the wastes easily. These bacteria help to keep the 'bad' or unfriendly bacteria in balance. Active enzymes in barley grass powder help with breaking down the food and giving you the energy and nutrients that you need everyday.

We have experimented by adding RVP to the oatmeal at 98 degrees and it tastes even softer and easier to swallow and digest. If the oatmeal doesn't break down into liquid as it did with our RVP, that enzyme formulation will not be very effective in helping with the digestive process. Our raw vegetables powder is the proof that it can break down the food!

Again we regret to let you know that our raw "cultured" vegetables powder won’t be ready until this fall of 2008. It will be announced on Health Talk when it is ready to sell! Meanwhile, try the free sample today WHEN you order any products from us!

I was a tough girl and always had the energy. When I was18 years old and lived on my own with no pressure from my parents to eat healthy foods and to take barley grass powder. I am FREE at last to eat whatever I want!

Am I really that free?

Yes, I was fine for a while. I stopped taking barley powder because I got bored and tired of that same old taste of barley. I also did not see any point taking it because I felt good and have plenty of energy. I went to college, traveled and lived in the city. I am 29 years old now. Whoa! Look at me!

After years of being on my own and going out to restaurants frequently. I felt like my old self was gone. I felt weak with no energy and was often worn out after work. I became crabby and was sick with cold/flu often. I chose to think that I have no time to cook, exercise, eat right food, or take care of myself. Eventually, I was lost and miserable.

After going up to almost 200 pounds, I decided to return to barley grass and new product that my parents created for us which is raw vegetables powder! I took them faithfully and I could not believe that my body responded positively to healthy foods, barley grass and raw vegetables powder. After few months of patience with cleansing, exercising and eating right, I feel like I am 20 years old again! I did not get any cold/flu and I feel so energetic, stronger, younger, and happier.

How, you asked? I believed that barley and raw vegetables powder as well as eating healthy foods had helped me to reduce my cravings and temptations. When I take barley grass and raw vegetables powder, I can feel my body and my taste buds are being satisfied! My body tells me that I got enough living nutrients and friendly bacteria. My bowel movement improved a lot. My bloat started to go away and I lost 50 pounds in 7 months! I want to thank my parents to get myself back together and for making those wonderful, high quality living products for people like myself out there.

Thank you, Dad and Mom!

PLEASE NOTE that raw vegetables powder is not ready to sell until this fall when we grow more vegetables. Thanks for your patience and read our Health Talks for further updates/discounts.

Here are two pictures that prove how our vegetables and barley grass from our soil are higher in nutrient content and has more density. Let's look at the weight of both cabbages and their nutrient contents (Brix level) that were tested by refractometer. Both cabbages are about the same size, circumference of 19 inches.

Brix level: 12.1 (Excellent)

Nutrient-dense foods are foods that have GREATER amounts of vitamins and minerals. Your time, money, and health will be all worth it if you eat nutrient dense foods such as our barley grass and vegetables because they are HIGH QUALITY foods from Living Food Farm's well-nutured and high quality soil!

Raw Vegetables Powder

How do you know if the store bought vegetables and fruits are high quality...quality enough for your health to improve, thrive, or heal?

Did you know that 90 to 95 percent of commercial and organic vegetables and fruits are LOW in its nutrition content? And that goes for any supplementary that contains fruits or vegetables.

A brief description about nutrition content can be found here.

Let's compare our barley grass to the well known story of three little pigs' houses. Would you want to live in a house of straws, sticks, or bricks? Which one will last the longest? Bricks, definitely, will last the longest and it is the exactly the same with barley grass for your health. You will live longer and healthier if you take our barley grass daily and it is because our barley grass is a high quality food!

Poor quality vegetables/fruits

Quick to mold or rot

Watery

Attractive to insect pests

Poor tasting

Low vitamins and minerals

High quality vegetables/fruits

Refuse to rot but will safely dehydrate such as raisins

Insects are not attracted to high quality plants

Taste delicious

Full of vitamins and minerals

And that is our barley grass as well as our strawberries from 30 years of healthy soil!

You would need to eat a LOT of poor quality vegetables to get enough vitamins and minerals as compared to few tablespoons from our high quality barley grass!

Easier and faster=healthier and live longer!

Mix the barley grass

We would like to remind you again that you DON'T have to take barley grass directly to your mouth with water. You can easily mix the barley grass with whatever you like the best. You can experiment it with yogurt, apple sauce, milk (organic or raw recommended), smoothie, or juice. Be creative but don't cook them or its nutrient will be lost.

We encourage you to take 4 to 6 teaspoons/2 tablespoons a day. If you are having many health problems, take 6 to 12 teaspoons a day. The first two or three teaspoons should be first thing in the morning to bring life to the mind and blood so you will have the energy for the day. The second helping of barley grass can be anytime during the day to overcome the afternoon drowsiness and third one should be before bedtime to lower the acidity in the blood and to help sleep better.

Protect yourselves with Wolfberries or Goji Juice!

As cold weather is coming, you can easily protect yourself from dreadful colds/sinuses if you take a handful of wolfberries or 2 ounces of Goji juice everyday! Vitamin C is able to stay in the system for only 12-24 hours so you need to take it everyday. Try to prove yourself that you can reduce your colds/sinuses that you had every year before! It is much easier to take delicious fruity snack or juice daily than being stuck with a cold or clogging sinus for a week or two! It is no fun!

If you do have a cold/sinus, take handful of wolfberries every 90 minutes to fight off the virus. Avoid any dairy and sugary products until you are well again. Taking wolfberries or Goji juice during colds/sinus can reduce the number of days to only few days.

The video you saw or are about to watch is Ron and Shirley Johnson's granddaughter Dalina, who is a bit over 2 years old. Dalina's Mom, Shanada, takes Barley Powder, Chinese wolfberries, and drinks Goji Juice on a regular basis. These nutritious foods have produced higher nutrients in breast milk. Today, Dalina has grown into a toddler and is able to eat barley grass/wolfberries and drinks Goji juice by herself. As a result, Dalina doesn't get sick that often. She didn't have any ear infections or "pink' eye since she was born.

Did you know that on average, according to Children's Medical Group (2004), infants get sick (colds, stomach "bugs", and flu-like illnesses) around 8 to 12 times in their first year and 6 to 8 times in their second year? We believe that food that lacks nutrition has caused babies to become sick often. If children receive high quality nutrients through eating barley grass powder and wolfberries as their important "vegetable and fruit intake," they will not get sick often. Kids and even adults don't have to experience sickness to increase their immune system but to eat high quality food to avoid becoming sick!

Most of you already know how sick kids are no fun to take care of as it takes up so much of your time. Money are lost from missing work or spent on visiting doctors, including buying medicines. All this could have been avoided when it can be just a change of eating habits.

Feeding kids well at a young age is very important because building good eating habits will last a lifetime! For adults like you, it is not too late to improve your health as well!

We are sure many of you saw the news about pets that got sick from terrible pet foods. This news scared many of the pet owners across America. Numerous pets got sick or even died from those contaminated pet food. The ingredients are waste that includes intestines, udders, heads, hooves, and possibly diseased and cancerous animal parts. The pet nutrition industry is a multi-billion dollar industry and the products are full of hype and false claims. Consumers are being tricked into believing that they are feeding their pets healthy foods, when in reality they are feeding nothing more than poorer meat meals, cheap grains (including corn and soy), pesticides, and toxins.

What does that mean? It means simply that we can't easily trust what is being put into pet food containers in stores. It is always a good idea to read the ingredients and understand what they are - just like what we do for people's food.

At Living Food Farm, we have our own pets that we love dearly. Our farm has two cats and a dog. We regularly feed our pets raw meats with cod liver oil and organically certified barley/alfalfa powder. Cod liver oil helps the pet's fur to become more shiny and healthier. Alfalfa is an excellent source of calcium and minerals. It also improves the amount of fatty acids that animals need to survive.

We do have barley/alfalfa powder in our stock but cod liver oil can be bought at your nearby health food store. Non-flavored cod liver oil is the best for any pets. Raw meats can also be found in health food stores that are free from any additives or chemicals. If you can't possibly change your pets' food, the most important way to help your pets' health is to add barley grass powder to your pets' diet. For more questions on how to feed the pets the best possible way, contact Rochella at rochella@livingfoodfarm.com. Rochella loves animals and often takes care of our pets.

Do Americans eat enough vegetables and fruits?

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) showed a new report: only 1 out of 7 people in the United States eat enough fruit and vegetables and exercise. Over 85 percent of U.S. people are NOT eating enough vegetables and fruits, or have enough exercise!

This is why we are selling barley grass powder and wolfberries so consumers would get enough daily vegetables and fruits. Our barley grass powder and the Chinese wolfberries has exceptionally high amount of nutrients that came from our mineral rich soil.

We got to stop and think every now and then, don’t we? Let’s stop and think right now. What do our bodies really need? Have we been listening to what our bodies really need lately? We live in a fast paced world, especially with the advancing technology, demanding responsibilities from the workplace, and wrestling with priorities. Not surprisingly, it can be challenging to focus on what is really important to keep ourselves functioning smoothly. Keeping ourselves healthy certainly tops the list; to be healthy enough to go to work to support our families, doing what we enjoy doing, recreationally and/or competitively.

Living Food Farm grows barley grass and strawberries for that purpose…to help our health, to help our bodies to do what we need to do on a daily basis.

See the picture of barley grass and Ron holding a refractometer above… What does this picture meant? We wish we could show you what a naked eye could not see in this picture but what we are talking about here is nutrient contents in plants. The refractometer measures the amount of nutrients in plants, in this case, barley grass. On daily basis, Ron measures to see if nutrients are high enough for barley grass to be cut, to be sold, high quality, to our customers. Today, the nutrients content in barley grass are in the Excellent range! Our vegetables in our garden are in that range, too! The more nutrients in plants, the more our bodies will benefit from their wealth of vitamins and minerals! So far, we could not find produce in the supermarkets that has high nutrient content as ours....

Deer and refractometers don’t lie. Deer continue to flock to Living Food Farm’s soil, looking for tasty alfalfa with their sensitive noses that could detect the slightest difference of nutrient content in plants! Animals have this uncanny ability, humans obviously don’t. This is why we constantly measure our crops with our trusty refractometer...

One more thing, our barley powder texture is finer than ever before! We discovered a better way to grind the barley grass for better satisfaction for our customers! More importantly, the fine powder was ground under 90 degrees Fahrenheit so that its nutrients are preserved. If the grass was ground over 90 degrees, the living nutrients will die, therefore, the barley powder will have no value. We need the high quality nutrients in barley powder to benefit our health.

Harvesting is certainly one of the busiest points throughout the growing season for many farmers.

When it comes to harvest time, Ron Johnson does it differently at Living Food Farm. What did he do that differs from many farmers out there? What could it possibly be? Harvesting means gathering the fruits and vegetables from the garden or crops, right? Well, please read on...

Ron's philosophy is a simple "gather and give" rule that he does for many years at Living Food Farm. What he gets from the soil from harvesting, he must give something back in return. After plowing harvested crops back into the ground, he plants winter rye immediately afterwards. The winter rye will grow to about 2 feet high before Ron plows in back into soil, therefore, giving extra nutrients and food back to the soil. After all, the soil gave so much growing those crops throughout the summer that it needs food to replenish in preparation for next spring!

The result of the "gather and give" rule, among other unique farming methods Ron uses at Living Food Farm were the bountiful and highly nutritious crops, strawberries and barley grass every year.

Providing adequate supply of water is always a challenge during dry spells but Living Food Farm is lucky enough to have a good nearby river and a reliable and powerful irrigation machine that keeps the soil over large areas saturated at all times.
The Toxic Chemicals Most Linked to Depression
www.sixwise.com

You may not realize this but toxic chemicals are EVERYWHERE in our food, air, homes, environment, etc. Pesticide is the number one chemical that is linked to depression and other health problems. Pesticides are various chemical sprays that farmers use to kill particular invading insects on their crops. In fact, according to a study published in the Annals of Epidemiology, farmers exposed to pesticides have nearly a six-fold increased risk of suffering from depressive symptoms. Living Food Farm soil did not have any contact with pesticides since we started farming in 1979!

Please note that we will not sell strawberry and strawberry/barley leathers just yet until summer of 2008. Please be patient and continue to enjoy the samples while they last, every time you order one of our products. Here are some comments we got from customers and we would like to share with you what they say about strawberry and strawberry/barley leathers.

"My sister-in-law has been bragging about your strawberries for a long

time, so we knew it will be delish! We ate it first thing when we opened the box and WOW, it confirmed it!"

"Wow I love the sample of strawberry!"

"Yeah! My kids love fruit leathers!! They don't know there's barley in them!"

"I don't really like the taste of barley grass but with strawberry/barley, I can't even taste the barley! I will definitely buy those leathers when they are ready!"

Pesticides in fruits and vegetables

We found a great article about the top 20 fruits and vegetables with the most pesticides, the 20 with the least and what you can do about it. Here is the link to this article from Sixwise.com.

Hidden MSG on Food Labels

You would not believe how many foods have MSG (monosodium glutamate) as one of the ingredients. MSG is used as a flavor enhancer in almost all processed foods. It helps with your food's flavors but sadly, it is also at work doing potential damage to your brain and body. Many researches have showed that MSG is linked to obesity, depression, blindness, diabetes, headaches/migraine, autism, ADHD, and more.

Examples of hidden MSG in ingredients are:

Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein Hydrolyzed Protein

Hydrolyzed Plant Extract

Plant Protein Extract

Sodium Caseinate

Yeast Extract

Texturized Protein

Autolyzed Yeast

Hydrolyzed Oat Flour

Calcium Caseinate

Additives in Soups that Frequently Contain MSG:

Malt Extract

Bouillon

Stock

Natural Flavoring Seasonings

Malt Flavoring

Broth Flavoring

Natural Beef or Chicken Flavoring

Avoid them and eat the simplest food out there such as organic vegetables, fruits, beans, unprocessed meats, and not to forget to take barley grass powder and wolfberries to maintain a good health!

I wanted to write this special and personal letter to all of our customers because of one reason. This reason is STRAWBERRIES. Yes, that tangy, juicy and red fruit the size of ping pong balls, give or take. We already received outstandingly positive feedback from our close relatives and friends about the incredible taste of our strawberries! One may ask...why sell strawberries now, not before?

Let's go back to the beginning...when I first started farming back in 1979, my wife and I wanted to grow and sell strawberries. We didn't succeed because the soil wasn't good at that time and my confidence and knowledge of growing strawberries wasn't advanced enough. Our strawberries in the early 1980s measured low in nutrient content and the taste wasn't that great, all because of the soil's poor health. We decided to move on other vegetables to sell but continued to grow strawberries for our family.

Today, I have almost 30 years of chemical-free farming with high quality soil from years of nurturing. My experience, knowledge and confidence are much higher than ever and we decided to add our "original" plant, strawberries, to Living Food Farm's product list! The taste is off the charts! I'm not the only person saying this...but also others who tasted our strawberries!

The plan is to make strawberry leathery (like fruit roll-ups) but 10 times better! We pick them, blend them into thick juice, and dry them on thin trays with dehydrator machines. The temperature will not exceed more than 90 degrees to preserve the fragile nutrients. The strawberry leathery slices are packaged into air-vacuumed plastic bags to preserve taste and freshness (see picture above) and the shelf life will be almost forever! Our nutrient-rich strawberries contain very high levels of Vitamins C, fiber, folate, potassium and antioxidants and can reduce common colds, heart disease, strokes, and cancer. It also enhances memory and wards off the cognitive decline of aging.

Why not order and try our strawberry leathery samples and taste what heaven really tastes like?!! We will include one FREE strawberry and strawberry/barley leathery sample ONLY when you order one or more of the following and current products: Barley Powder, Goji Juice, Mangosteen Juice or Chinese wolfberries. The sample will be included every time you order until it runs out. We are trying to be creative on how consumers can take barley powder regularly through the help of our strawberry's awesome taste so your feedback would be appreciated!

Be on a look out for any updates on Living Food Farm's strawberry leathery in our future health talks or check into our website, www.livingfoodfarm.com.
Healthful living seekers need to stay strong and firmly believe in eating better food and be actively involved in learning and improving one's health in every aspect.

Living Food Farm has one good example from one of their customers. Lee Jones is his name and his persistence paid off in great dividends! He wanted to share to all of you on his story. He has been taking our barley grass for over two years now. Back then, he had 64 different types of allergies. After the first year of daily spoonfuls of barley powder, all of his allergies are all gone! Lately, the last few months, Lee didn't take the barley powder regularly due to his extra busy schedule and sure enough, some of his allergies started to come back! With this fact, Lee realized he has to be faithful and persistent with Living Food Farm's barley powder to keep his body allergy-free!

It sure was no fun battling those pesky allergies, so try to be persistent with the barley powder and enjoy the rewards!

We are sharing some important facts about Kefir that was excerpted from the book, "Body Ecology Diet" by Donna Gates.

What is Kefir?
Kefir is a cultured and microbial-rich food that helps restore the inner ecology. Kefir can come from goat or cow milk, or young coconut milk. Organic and raw is best. Kefir is almost like yogurt; only a little liquefy with tart taste. It has more therapeutic value with active yeast and friendly bacteria as compared to yogurt.

What Kefir is good for?
There are more than 400 different species of beneficial microorganisms living inside a healthy colon but often important food such as barley grass or other vitamins and minerals from vegetables and fruits couldn't enter and improve the systems in the body. With kefir to cleanse and improve the colon, vitamins and minerals from our barley grass will be able to absorb into the system and doing its job effectively. Kefir is known as natural antibiotic with active yeast and bacteria and it fights bad bacteria. Kefir is much better than taking antibiotics from doctors which will kill both good and bad bacteria and yeast. More reasons why kefir is good for us are listed below.

Kefir and all cultured foods keep small and large intestines clean and free of parasites.

Lose or reduce your cravings for carbohydrates and sugars.

Contains a large quantity of calcium and magnesium

     Help with depression and constipation

Good for people who are high-strung or nervous, for hyperactive children, or for people with sleep disorders

Kefir and all fermented foods have a cleaning effect on both intestines and when they are enhanced; the liver will be able to function much better.

It has excellent source of Vitamin B12 that cannot be made synthetically but must be grown in bacteria or molds. Vitamin B12 is essential for longevity.

When should I take Kefir?
Kefir makes a great morning meal along with barley grass or even better, with Shirley's Cookies. You can add herb-sweetened stevia, cinnamon, non-alcoholic vanilla, fruit flavoring or even Goji or Mangosteen Juice to your kefir.

For those with weak stomach, kefir may be too much so start slowly with only 4 ounces on empty stomach in the morning and increase gradually.

Who should take Kefir?
Anyone can benefit from drinking kefir. It is great for those who are lactose intolerant, have a weak ecology system, suffer yeast infection frequently, or for those who want to look young!

Coconut Kefir
Since the health of milk varies from their sources, Living Food Farm recommends using coconut water instead. Coconut kefir improves "friendly bacteria" in the body and its safer to drink. Coconut Kefir is an excellent addition in working with Goji or Mangosteen juice, Chinese wolfberries, Celtic sea salt and Living Food Farm’s green barley powder.

Coconut Kefir free samples
Living Food Farm is ready to send you samples of Coconut kefir.
2) Have you wondered the safety of foods you buy from supermarkets that are grown from those crops sprayed with pesticides on a regular basis?

The information provided below came from Dr. Americo Mosca's 1974 book, "Atoms in Agriculture". Dr. Mosca is a famous chemistry prizewinner of the Brussels World Fair.

Did you know that from the chart on America's use of pesticides in agriculture from 1964 to 2003 grew from about 300 million kgs to 1,800 million kgs? Farmers are finding it 'easier" to kill weeds, insects and fungus by just spraying or injecting pesticides on or into the soil, of varying chemical combinations to do the job.

An excerpt from the book...
"I calculate that in the U.S. the use of toxic genetic chemicals, (herbicides, insecticides, hormones, steroids, etc.) cause damage equal to the atomic fallout from 143 H-bombs of 14 megatons each, or in terms of atomic bombs -- from 72,500 atomic bombs of the Hiroshima type. For this reason, disease of all kinds and the birth of mentally retarded babies have increased tremendously in the United States in the last 10 years. The damage to plants, crops, soil fertility and water pollution are practically incalculable. If use of these toxic genetic chemicals persists in agriculture and on food, this will cause the destruction of the American people".

There are chemicals used for specific weeds, other chemicals for insects or fungus but the combination of those chemicals are multiplied into thousands of combinations that could be lethal on the same field they were applied to. The current regulations and determinations of safety levels are usually based on the effect of single chemicals. The spraying of chemicals is becoming an alarming norm of farmers today.

Please realize that Living Food Farm's soil have never touched any pesticides since 1979, almost thirty years ago. We know what's best for our bodies and quality comes from healthy soil. Our barley grass is grown from the very soil we have nurtured for many years, rich in minerals up to 3 feet deep. Take our Tour in our website to understand how we take care of our soil.

More researchers from all over the world are finally refocusing on how important probiotics are for our health because they discovered that up to 90% of all unknown human illness and disease are mostly caused by unhealthy colon! Interestingly, North Americans take more vitamin and mineral supplements than any other educated population in the world but still 1 out of 2 Americans will die due to either heart disease or cancer!

Why is that?

Because taking vitamins or pills won't help improving your health. They are man-made and are full of toxic chemicals. They are not natural grown, whole food. What's more, there are billions of pollutants in our everyday lives. It includes lead, mercury, cadmium plus over 4500 other toxic heavy metal by-products, drugs, vaccines, and many more. Your immune system will begin to fail unless you do something about it.

What is probiotics, you ask?

Probiotics are health-enhancing bacteria that replenish the microflora in your intestinal track, helping your body to digest and absorb food, and promote good overall health. Probiotics is a Greek word meaning "for life". This contrasts with Antibiotics meaning "against life".

Where can you get probiotics?

Barley grass!

Fermented foods

Kefir

How can our barley grass help you with your colon?

It is the only vegetation on earth that can supply sole nutritional support from birth to old age.

Barley grass powder contains nutrients such as vitamins C and E, which are much more potent together than when taken separately.

Barley grass is high in calcium, iron, all essential amino acids, vitamin C, the flavonoids, vitamin B12, and a number of enzymes and minerals.

Barley grass can be used to treat disorders of the stomach and duodenum; pancreatitis; and as an anti-inflammatory agent.

Barley grass contains superoxide dismutase (SOD), a powerful antioxidant enzyme that protects the cells against toxic free radicals. (Encyclopedia of Alternative Medicine, 2005)

We are supposed to have correct balance of 85% probiotic bacteria and 15% pathogenic bacteria in our bodies. It is an ideal ratio of good and bad bacteria in the gut. But most people have 85% bad bacteria and only 15% good bacteria which caused many health problems.

Common Warning Signs of a Bacteria Imbalance

Difficulty losing weight, sugar/carbohydrate cravings

Frequent fatigue, poor concentration

Frequent constipation or diarrhea

Faulty digestion, acid reflux and other gut disorders

Sleeping poorly, possible night sweats

Painful joint inflammations/stiffness

Bad breath, gum disease and dental problems

Frequent colds, flu or infections

Chronic yeast problems, candida

Acne, eczema, skin and foot fungus, etc

Extreme menstrual or menopausal symptoms

Allergies and food sensitivities

Why Living Food Farm's high quality barley grass is perfect for you?

Unlike many barley grass grown from other parts of the United States, our farming philosophy is different and it promotes highest quality soil which produces highest possible nutrients in our barley grass. If barley grass or any other crops are grown from poor soil, they will not help improve your health because there are very little essential minerals that can be absorbed into your body. Click on this link to understand what we did to our soil to make the big difference! Also, to understand more...click on "Understanding Sugar (Nutrient) Content in Plants" and "Understanding ERG" while you're in this link.

We can assure you that many of our customers have mentioned feeling better, having more energy and improving health after taking our barley grass. We encourage your commitment to our barley grass for more than 3 months to recognize the change!

We will explain more about fermented foods and Kefir, along with barley grass in next Health Talks, on how and why they can help your health.
